Small symbols, great meaning
A badge, as the word itself says, is a small metal object that is usually pinned to the collar of uniform jackets and expresses membership to a group, an association, be it social or sports, an organization or company of any kind. In the popular imagination the most famous are certainly the badges of police forces along with the military ones.
What badges are made of
Badges can be made of different materials, generally they are made of iron or brass with different finishes. Generally speaking several finishes exist, for example: gilded, nickel-plated, antique silver, antique bronze. Badges can be polished or satin, made with neutral metal or decorated with colored enamels, both normal and polished. Badges are available in different standard formats or can be shaped to better mett to customer requests. On the back of the badge there is a small nail with a butterfly fastening (also in metal) used to secure the item to the garment.
While for organizations, groups, associations and sports teams the badge is an object that is commonly used (and modified in case of special events such as foundation anniversaries or celebrations), in a company it is especially used on special occasions. These occasions are usually: openings, foundation anniversaries, reception of important guests, fairs, exhibitions, trade shows etc.
So beautiful ... to have a collection!
Badges can also be collected and there are many passionate badges collectors, especially those of the armed forces or police forces. Often the badges become an exchange tool between associations, teams, sports clubs: in this case they can all be pinned together on a garment, a cap, a backpack, on banners or flags, etc.
